Memorial Tea Light Holder

Commissioned to stand in a local village church, this memorial tea light holder was created as a place for families to light a candle, pause and remember loved ones no longer with us.

Made entirely from solid oak, the piece was designed around three graduating tiers, with individually hand-turned holders for the tea lights. The deceptively simple form made it an extremely challenging piece to construct, with the angled supports and circular tiers requiring careful setting out, trigonometry and precise joinery to bring everything together accurately.

Personal details were an important part of the commission. The oak was laser engraved with the names of family members, together with the message “Love Remains Undimmed”, creating a permanent record within the piece itself.

Combining traditional woodworking, hand turning and modern laser engraving, it was a particularly meaningful commission to make
